Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (HA), a bioceramic material, was successfully synthesized from chicken bones using a pyrolysis method. The synthesis process involved collecting and cleaning the bones by boiling and drying, followed by calcination at 800 °C for 3 hours to remove organic components and form a stable HA crystal structure. The obtained material was characterized using multiple analytical techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicated that the synthesized HA had high purity, consisting mainly of HA with a small amount of Ca₃(PO₄)₂, and the lattice parameters (a ≈ 9.29 Å, c ≈ 6.76 Å) and average crystallite size (D ≈ 35.7 nm) were close to standard values, confirming a stable crystal structure. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations revealed that the HA nanoparticles aggregated into larger clusters, creating a porous structure favorable for cell adhesion. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis showed a uniform distribution of Ca and P, with a Ca/P ratio of 1.62, close to the theoretical value of 1.67. Finally, MTT assays on L929 fibroblast cells demonstrated that the HA exhibited good biocompatibility and promoted cell proliferation
