Abstract

The genus Garcinia is one of six major genera in the family Clusiaceae. The species Garcinia schomburgkiana is an evergreen tree, found in the South Central, Central Highlands, Southeast and Southwest regions in Vietnam. Four phenolic and flavonoid compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of the fruit of Garcinia schomburgkiana. The chemical structure of these compounds were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, ESI-MS mass spectroscopy with names respectively 5,5-oxybis(3-methoxyphenol) (1), myricetin (2), dihydromyricetin (3) and catechin (4)
