Economic sectoral restructuring in Binh Duong province: an approach from statistical data analysis (2010-2023)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper examines the process of economic structural transformation in Binh Duong Province , employing a methodology grounded in statistical data analysis and comparative assessment. Utilizing secondary data sourced from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam and the Binh Duong Statistical Yearbooks for the 2010–2023 period , the study evaluates fluctuations in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and labor structure indicators. The findings reveal that the province achieved an average annual growth rate of 8.1% , characterized by the dominance of the industrial and construction sector, which accounts for 68.7% of the GRDP. However, the research indicates that this model remains heavily reliant on labor-intensive industries, while producer services have yet to experience commensurate development. The scholarly contribution of this paper lies in the establishment of a SWOT analysis framework for the provincial economy and the clarification of the spillover mechanisms from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) toward high-quality structural shifts. On this basis, the study proposes strategic policy packages designed to facilitate the province in surmounting the "middle-income trap" and transitioning toward a knowledge-based economic model
