Abstract

Amir Hamzah stands as a pioneering figure in Indonesian literature, distinguished by his successful integration of traditional cultural elements with modernist sensibilities. This paper analyzes his poetry collection Nyanyi Sunyi (Song of Silence) to explore the convergence of Islamic spirituality and Romanticism within the framework of modern Indonesian literary expression. The results indicate that Amir Hamzah masterfully intertwined religious themes with the emotional depth and aesthetic qualities of Romanticism, thereby producing a seminal work that significantly enriches the canon of modern Indonesian poetry.
