Economic, social and environmental responsibilities of tourism to residents in Lai Son commune - Kien Giang

Abstract
The development of responsible tourism is a global trend within the tourism industry. Effective implementation of tourism's economic, social, and environmental responsibilities is crucial for fostering responsible tourism. This study aimed to analyze these responsibilities and identify measures to enhance tourism's accountability in Lai Son Commune, Kien Giang Province. Data analysis revealed that residents perceive significant economic benefits of tourism and are less negatively affected in terms of the environment. From a social perspective, residents agreed that tourism improved their livelihoods and quality of life. However, they limited material support, information, and opportunities for contributing feedback on tourism development. Residents expressed strong support for the proposed measures for increasing tourism's responsibility. Based on these findings, the study offers several managerial implications to facilitate responsible tourism development in the locality.
